At a joint news conference at the Palace of Serbia, Vučić said that Poland, whose Prime Minister is on an official two-day visit to Serbia, is a partner of exceptional importance, not only in terms of Serbia’s European path but also bilateral relations and trade.
Poland is an important economic partner of Serbia, with the two countries’ trade reaching more than €2 billion in 2023, he said, expressing an expectation that trade will increase in the coming months.
The Serbian President conveyed that he asked for Tusk’s assistance in establishing cooperation in the fields of innovation, start-ups, and biotech hubs, where Poland has achieved success, noting that Serbia also has expertise to offer to Poland.
Vučić noted that the Prime Minister of Poland and Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis had relayed to him significant messages a day earlier regarding Serbia’s membership of the European Union and the possible acceleration of the accession process, expressing his belief that Tusk will support Serbia along this path.
Vučić conveyed that he also discussed important political issues with the Polish Prime Minister and asked the interlocutor to hear Belgrade’s position on the issue of Kosovo and Metohija.
The Prime Minister of Poland said that his country supports Serbia’s European path, noting that the European Union is not complete without Serbia.
Poland will soon take over the EU presidency and will make enlargement and the closest possible cooperation with Serbia a priority during its presidency, Tusk said.
He added that Poland welcomes Serbia’s economic success and supports regional cooperation, particularly the Open Balkan initiative and the Berlin Process.
