Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić said that 26 individuals were questioned yesterday over the accident at the Novi Sad railway station, with a further five to be questioned today.
These individuals were questioned on the Novi Sad Police Directorate’s premises, with coordination from the Criminal Police Directorate and in the presence of prosecutors, Dačić told the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS).
He noted that documentation will be taken from the Novi Sad Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments regarding its consent to the reconstruction, expansion and adaptation of the railway station, alongside documentation on periodic inspections of the station structure, for the purposes of obtaining an assessor’s report.
Discussing preserved evidence, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that metal cables are being safeguarded by police at a secure location.
Dačić said that those injured in the Novi Sad accident are in critical condition, noting that only three people survived of a total of 17 who were under the station’s outdoor roof when it collapsed.
