Prime Minister Miloš Vučević said today that the need to establish criminal and political responsibility for the tragedy in Novi Sad is not in question, but that this should be done in a calm and responsible manner.
Speaking to journalists in Shanghai, Vučević said that the decision on political responsibility will be made in the days ahead and that the process will not be lengthy.
He stated that the decision will be a result of responsible political discussions and an objective review of the situation, adding that this is not about criminal responsibility, but political responsibility that refers to state, city, portfolio or company leadership, whereas criminal responsibility will be determined by police and prosecutors, that is, the court.
The Prime Minister noted that the investigation is in the hands of the public prosecutor’s office and police, adding that he has been informed that questioning and statement-taking from all individuals in the decision-making chain regarding reconstruction or works at the Novi Sad railway station is under way.
