Prime Minister Miloš Vučević told the heads of diplomatic and consular missions of Serbia to be even more agile and courageous in representing the interests of the state tonight.
At the closing of the first day of the Ambassadors’ Conference, Vučević expressed his satisfaction that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has restored this type of communication and exchange of opinions, which had not existed for a while for various reasons.
This is something that is encouraging and shows that Serbia will prepare much more seriously and in detail the functioning of the work of diplomatic and consular missions and the protection of our country’s position on all issues on the agenda and which are most important for national and state unity, he emphasised.
The Prime Minister said that the situation is further complicated in Kosovo and Metohija and in the region, primarily in Bosnia and Herzegovina, noting that many difficult days are behind us, but that he cannot say that easy days are coming.
Vučević pointed out that there is an attempt at internal destabilisation, as well as that there are ongoing attacks on the Serbian community in Kosovo and Metohija.
The road to opening Cluster 3 is also difficult. For the third year in a row, we have been receiving messages that the conditions have been met, and then it all comes down to simple politics, with messages of encouragement being sent to the entire region, the Prime Minister said.
We expect you to be even more agile and courageous in representing the interests of the state of Serbia, but I think that we have even more work ahead of us because we will have to be present at every event to say what our state’s position is on all issues, Vučević stated.
According to him, what remains on the foreign policy agenda is integration into the EU, and this path is not controversial in terms of political commitment, but it is full of obstacles for the entire Balkans, especially since there are conditions for Serbia that further complicate our path.
The Prime Minister emphasised that this is not an alibi to give up on something, but a call and a warning for all of us that we must be even more engaged and dedicated with better results.
He asked the representatives of the diplomatic-consular missions in those countries that have not recognised the so-called Kosovo, such as Greece, China and others, to be more agile and offensive, because, as he said, the other side is not asleep and is trying to reach an interlocutor.
According to him, while continuing the path towards Brussels, we should at the same time preserve and nurture relations with countries that are not EU members, with particular emphasis on the Asian and African continents.
