Prime Minister Miloš Vučević said today that the government’s wish is for the country to continue working and developing and, after difficult days, to return to regular activities and projects.
At the beginning of the government session, which was attended by President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić, Vučević said that, following great trials, pain and loss, the government aims to return to regular operations and to dedicate itself to the growth of GDP, salaries and pensions, the socio-economic dialogue, environmental improvement, investment in infrastructure and energy and addressing other expectations of Serbian citizens.
Vučević asked the President of the Republic to brief government members on his visit to Brussels tomorrow for the EU-Western Balkans summit, the agenda for Serbia’s reforms and the opening of Cluster 3 and further negotiations with the EU and what has been defined as the state’s goal by the end of 2026.
He further asked the President of Serbia to discuss the situation in the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, particularly the elections announced for 9 February and efforts of the Serb people to preserve their legality and legitimacy in this part of Serbia.
Vučić said that he expects that, according to the information he has received, the Albin Kurti regime in Kosovo and Metohija will in the coming days declare Serbs guilty of the attack on the Ibar-Lepenac canal in order to prevent the Serb List from participating in the upcoming elections in the province.
He pointed out that Kurti’s regime would declare Serbs guilty without any serious material evidence, noting that Albanians had contaminated the place where the investigation was supposed to be carried out, deliberately doing so prior to the arrival of KFOR and EULEX, with a clear political goal.
The President of the Republic stressed that it is therefore important that he will be in Brussels tomorrow to point out what is really happening in Kosovo and Metohija.
Vučić also said that the European Union will probably open Cluster 3 in membership negotiations with Serbia in late January or early February, recalling that Serbia has decided to do everything on the EU agenda by the end of 2026.
The President of the Republic underlined that all demands of the students blocking the work of universities have been met, noting that the state will never violate university autonomy and that police will not raid universities, unless there is a serious violation of the safety of other people.
At the same time, the President of the Republic asked the government to form a team that will be responsible for resolving the situation if the United States imposes sanctions on oil company NIS.
He also requested the government to form a team for negotiations with Russian energy company Gazprom regarding a new gas arrangement.
