Prime Minister Miloš Vučević visited Chinese automotive parts supplier Minth, a company recognised for innovation and dedication to sustainable development, in Shanghai today.
Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarović joined Vučević in touring the company’s facilities.
Following the visit, Vučević met with Minth’s controlling shareholder, Jong Hwa Chin, after which an investment conference was held at the company’s head office, during which Mesarović and the company’s general director for investment and cooperation signed a memorandum of cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and Minth on investment projects in the area of development and logistics in Inđija and Belgrade.
Speaking at the conference, Vučević said that even though Serbia is a candidate for membership of the European Union, it is maintaining its traditional friendship with China and many other states.
The Prime Minister invited Chinese companies to invest in Serbia, noting that Serbia is an orderly state with hard-working and good people, a good education system and employees who speak multiple languages and are looking forward to cooperation with companies from China.
According to him, two-thirds of foreign investors who have decided to invest in the Balkans have opted for Serbia, which cannot be a coincidence.
Serbia is constructively and substantially competing with EU member states, said Vučević, recalling that the country has obtained an investment-grade credit rating and needs fresh investments, including in new technologies, with a focus on sustainable development.
The Prime Minister also noted that he will meet with Chinese Premier Li Qiang tomorrow, with talks to centre on political issues.
Vučević said that the fact is that Serbia recognises One China and that China has not recognised the independence of Kosovo and Metohija, adding that Serbia is also grateful to China for having voted against the Srebrenica resolution in the UN General Assembly.
He said that he would also meet with representatives of other states, such as Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, as well as representatives of multiple Chinese companies.
The Prime Minister stated that he also had good discussions with representatives of a Chinese technical university, one of the nine engines of China’s development.
They will soon arrive in Serbia with their capacities, to work together with universities in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš and Kragujevac. It is necessary for the development of Serbian society to be based on science, innovation and knowledge, and in that sense, it is important for students, particularly those enrolled in postgraduate studies, to be able to spend at least one year at the Chinese university, Vučević said.
