Minister for Family Care and Demography Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski said today, at an informal meeting of European ministers responsible for demography in Budapest, that Serbia is currently the state with the highest parental allowance in the Balkans.

Serbia is taking important steps to encourage the birth rate and parenthood, said the Minister, recalling that the allocations for the birth of the first, second, third and fourth child have been increased.
Đurđević Stamenkovski noted that the allocations are set at €4,336 for the first child, €6,344 for the second, €20,695 for the third and €27,230 for the fourth child.
The Minister said that she is proud of the measure supporting young married couples with children in purchasing their first house or apartment, with the Ministry providing up to €20,000 in subsidies.
