IPARD III Financing Agreement between Serbian government, EU exchanged

Minister of European Integration Tanja Miščević and Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret exchanged today in Mionica the IPARD III Financing Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the European Union, which includes €288 million in agricultural grants.

The ceremony was held at the farm of IPARD beneficiary Srđan Miletić, in the village of Tolić near Mionica, in the presence of Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Aleksandar Martinović and Mionica Mayor Boban Janković.

At the ceremony, Miščević invited farmers to propose projects for financing from the aforementioned funds that will be invested in the purchase of equipment and the improvement of facilities at farms.

Giaufret said that Serbia should work on the legislative framework so that its products and agriculture can be competitive on the EU market.

Martinović underlined that major international retail chains are ready to offer Serbian agricultural products on their shelves to a greater extent, not only in Serbia, but also in their home countries.

According to him, the aim is to enable young farmers to stay on their farms through support and a series of affirmative measures.
