Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić and Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Republic of Somalia Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail signed today a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of police cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking at a press conference after the meeting with his Somali counterpart, Dačić pointed out that the document is a form of mutual support in preventing security challenges and ensuring the safety of citizens, and that it envisages regular annual meetings, training and the exchange of information and expertise.
Dačić noted that 25 criminal investigators from Somalia are currently in Serbia undergoing a three-month training in the field of fighting crime and terrorism, and that last year 60 police officers from that country attended the first training.
Minister Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail stressed that the relations between the two countries are full of respect.
We will always respect the territorial integrity and independence of our two countries, while respecting international norms, he stated, adding that Serbia has always stood by Somalia in the international arena.
