Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović said at a meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Energy Community in Vienna today that Serbia will continue to work on the implementation of reforms, electricity market coupling with the EU and bolstering energy security, particularly through investments in renewable energy sources and strengthening the transmission grid.

Đedović Handanović underlined that at the meeting, Serbia confirmed its leadership position when it comes to the sectors of electricity and renewable energy sources (RES), adding that of all countries in the region, Serbia is the most prepared for market coupling.
The Minister added that another topic of the Ministerial Council of the Energy Community was the preparedness of the contracting parties for winter and conditions on the electricity market amid uncertainty due to the conflict in Ukraine.
Đedović Handanović announced that a new unit at the Kostolac thermal power plant will be handed over to energy company Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) tomorrow, in what will mark the commissioning of the first new production facility for EPS in 35 years, providing the country with additional energy security.
