Minister without portfolio in charge of gender equality, prevention of violence against women and economic and political empowerment of women Tatjana Macura participated in the two-day conference Women, Peace and Security 25th in Tokyo.
The forum brought together numerous participants from around the world who presented their national-level activities on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325.
Macura highlighted Serbia as one of the few countries that strongly supports greater participation of women in peace and security processes, taking concrete steps to achieve this goal.
Serbia, she stated, has developed and implemented two national action plans for the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, with the aim of improving women’s rights, their position in society and security.
The Minister pointed out that the country is also implementing the Together and Safely through Childhood educational programme, which aims to raise awareness about security from an early age.
She noted that Serbia remains committed to advancing gender equality in security policies.
