Prime Minister Miloš Vučević spoke today with Co-Chair of the EU-Serbia Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee Loucas Fourlas about the reform processes and Serbia’s progress on its European path.
Vučević stressed that Serbia and Cyprus, from where Fourlas originates, have an equal position when it comes to respecting international law and expressed gratitude for the country’s continued support for Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its support so far in the EU accession process.
The Prime Minister stressed that the European Union remains Serbia’s strategic commitment and confirmed its readiness to continue efforts to advance reform processes, which are in line with the values and standards of the Union.
Fourlas stressed that the EU is not complete without Serbia and the Western Balkans region, assessing that significant progress has been made in the accession process and that it is necessary to continue working on reforms and harmonisation with the standards of the Union.
He said that during his five-year mandate he would strive to bring Serbia closer to the European Union, noting that Cyprus is ready to provide all necessary technical assistance in Serbia’s reform processes in order to achieve the goals of improving the rule of law, human rights, economic growth and stability in the region.
The Co-Chair of the Committee conveyed to Vučević the greetings of President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides, and expressed his confidence that the two countries will continue to improve relations based on full understanding and mutual support.
The Prime Minister reiterated that Serbia is strongly committed to its European future and will continue to implement the necessary reform processes in order to achieve concrete results as soon as possible and progress towards full EU membership.
