Outgoing Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met today with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and African Integration of the Republic of the Niger Bakary Yaou Sangaré.
After the meeting, Đurić stated that in the field of international cooperation, Serbia views the countries of Africa as very close countries, with which it cherishes a traditional friendship which is decades old.
Today, we are thinking how to form a partnership for the future, and not only with the countries of the Sahel region, since Serbia has the ambition to base its economic, political and every other future on cooperation with African countries.
Regardless of the fact that Serbia is a European country and on the path of European integration, it considers maintaining such traditional friendships and partnerships a comparative advantage, the Minister emphasised.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and African Integration of the Republic of the Niger assessed that this visit is a confirmation of a new impulse in relations with Serbia, as well as an opportunity to discuss areas in which potential for cooperation for the benefit of both peoples is recognised.
Niger and Serbia, he added, share the same values, which are respect for territorial integrity, respect for the sovereignty of each country and respect for the Charter of the United Nations, as well as respect for human rights and international law.
He singled out the field of agriculture as an area in which there are special opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.
