In his address to the public, Vucic underlined that Serbia has fulfilled absolutely everything it was asked to in order to ensure de-escalation, but that there is no de-escalation because the regime in Pristina does not want it.
He pointed out that the campaign of persecution and ethnic cleansing of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, conducted by Pristina, is well-organised, planned and essentially supported by circles in the international community.
The President of the Republic said that a year and a half ago, the regime in Pristina decided that all notable Serbs, who could be a point of resistance to that regime in any way and someone who would not accept one-sided decisions on a daily basis, must be either arrested or killed or removed from Kosovo and Metohija.
According to him, this campaign started in Strpce in late 2021, with the arrest of Bratislav Nikolic, Sasa Milosavljevic, Dimitrije Racicevic, Dragomir Milosavljevic, Sasa Spasic and Jadran Kostic.
He said that Nikolic is under detention in Podujevo, Racicevic in Gnjilane, Milosavljevic, Spasic and Kostic in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, and underlined that they have been detained for over a year and a half due to the alleged abuse of office and that this is an unprecedented case in the world.
Vucic assessed that things have gotten out of hand and that the Serbian people are pushed against the wall, which is why he will request urgent talks with NATO head Jens Stoltenberg in order to inform him about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija.
According to him, immediately after these talks, Serbia will request for the first time an urgent session of the United Nations Security Council (UN SC), given that the lives of Serbs and their security are threatened.
We didn't ask for the session earlier because we knew that it was the last thing we had to ask for before certain activities are carried out which are difficult, but that we have no right to allow further pogrom, persecution and ethnic cleansing of our population, he emphasised and added that Serbia acts in accordance with Resolution 1244 and international legal norms.
The President of the Republic explained that at this session Serbia will request that the UN SC, in accordance with its powers, takes urgent measures to protect the lives and freedom of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.
This means that we will demand that the Security Council instructs the KFOR international security forces to fulfil their obligations under Articles 15 and 9 of UN SC Resolution 1244, as well as Articles 3 and 4 of Annex 2 to the Resolution, Vucic underlined.
He pointed out that our state will primarily request that any further actions of security and other structures of the interim institutions based in Pristina that endanger the lives, freedom, security and survival of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija be immediately prevented on the ground.
Vucic said that the second part of the campaign is underway, with which Pristina wants to additionally scare the Serbian population in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, and that is the attack on the Serbian Orthodox Church and the health system.
The President said that now, in addition to police operations and with the help of the well-known Albanian and Bosniak lobbyist Alicia Kearns, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, additional elements are being introduced and an attack is carried out on these two pillars of the Serbian people in the province.
