Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke today with UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Afshan Khan, who said that the way in which Serbia responded to challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic is the role model for the entire world.
Brnabic expressed gratitude to Khan on the support UNICEF gives Serbia through the COVAX mechanism.
Khan pointed to the problem of mental health of the young people during the pandemic and underlined that mutual cooperation is necessary in order to create an adequate response.
She also spoke about the importance of inclusive education and the need to secure the realisation of this right, especially for endangered children and the young, in the best possible way.
Khan also added that Serbia is an example of good practice in the neighbouring countries when it comes to the achievements of children and the young in certain fields and that is why some UNICEF programmes, which were developed in Serbia, are used in other countries too.
The Prime Minister underlined that the care for mental health of the young is surely a priority. As for their education, all efforts have been made to ensure uninterrupted holding of online classes.
Brnabic concluded that Serbia is committed to cooperation with UNICEF and that her support and that of her team stand at UNICEF’s disposal.
