Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic met yesterday in Madrid with Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, as part of the first official visit of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to that country.
Selakovic and Albares stated that the relations between Serbia and Spain are extraordinary, expressing satisfaction with the frequent meetings at the highest level.
Selakovic, who met with Minister Albares recently on the sidelines of the OSCE ministerial meeting in Stockholm, invited his Spanish counterpart to visit Belgrade soon.
Thanking Spain on this occasion for respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, Selakovic informed his interlocutor about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and during the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
The head of Serbian diplomacy warned of constant provocations on the ground and the fact that Pristina is not implementing the obligations assumed by the Brussels agreement, while, on the other hand, Belgrade is committed to dialogue, peace and stability in the region.
Selakovic also thanked Spain for its support for Serbia's European integration, emphasising that our country remains firmly committed to one of its most important strategic goals, which is full membership in the EU.
The two ministers also discussed the expansion of economic cooperation and further harmonisation of economic agreements between Serbia and Spain, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
