Prime Minister Ana Brnabic assessed today, in a meeting with newly appointed director of the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce Alexander Markus that Germany is one of the most important economic partners and investors in the Serbian economy.
Speaking about further cooperation and investments of German companies in our market, Brnabic pointed out that our goal is to increase German investments and strengthen cooperation in key areas, which are the driving force of the Serbian economy.
Bearing in mind that the state managed to provide a favourable investment climate and a good legislative framework for companies that want to invest and expand their business in Serbia, the Prime Minister underlined that the commitment of the new government will be a significant support for cooperation with the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
Representatives of this chamber assessed the economic climate in Serbia as very good and pointed out that there is an increase in the trust of German companies in our country, and that it is estimated that almost 95 percent of the companies already working in Serbia would invest again.
According to them, almost half of these companies plan to increase their investments.
The effect of investing in dual education, in which German companies also participate, was positively evaluated, with the remark that its more intensive promotion is necessary, because there is a constant need for educated personnel.
German companies in Serbia, as explained, employ more than 76,000 Serbian workers, and the goal is to increase the number of jobs in the coming years.
Brnabic stated that the state will continue with this model of education, which has so far included 10,000 students and 800 companies, which is extremely important for the economy and easier employment of young people.
As she explained, more than €191 million has been invested in dual education, and new investments are also planned, because it is recognized that this is a good way to get educated personnel who will be able to respond to the needs of companies on our market.
At the meeting, it was concluded that the interest of German companies in investing, the favourable business climate and positive cooperation between the two countries in the field of economy open up opportunities for further strengthening of cooperation in numerous areas.
