This is not something that comes on its own. The formation of the Strategic Council for Cooperation is the first such event in Serbia. We do not have any international council, except with Hungary. This is something that the government of Serbia will work diligently on, in order to further improve cooperation in every sense, said Brnabic.
The Prime Minister emphasised that Belgrade and Budapest will continue to work on rapprochement, in every sense.
The first joint session with the government of Hungary was held on 1 July 2014, and less than nine years later, the day came when we are founding the Strategic Council for Cooperation, she underlined, adding that it was nine years of diligent, hard work.
The Prime Minister stated that in this way the relations between the two countries are completely changing and that this is how a partnership is built, a pledge for the future.
This was first initiated by Aleksandar Vucic, shortly before he became Prime Minister, in 2014, and since 2017 it has been a great honour and great pleasure for me to be able to continue on that path and to reach this moment today, Brnabic stated.
She said that this council is more than political and economic cooperation.
I want to say that, bearing in mind that there are certainly economic and trade reasons, here it is a matter of friendship and partnership, appreciation and respect, the Prime Minister pointed out.
Brnabic recalled that after last week's floods in our country, Hungary was the first to come forward with an offer of help. She expressed her gratitude to Hungary for that and stated that this was just the last example in a whole series of examples when Hungary was there for us when we needed it.
