At a joint press conference, held after the meeting with Milatovic in Belgrade, Vucic said that the relations between Serbia and Montenegro are important for the sake of the citizens who must feel the benefit of those relations, pointing out the great trade exchange between the two countries.
Serbia and Montenegro, in proportion to their population, have the largest trade exchange in the world, the President of Serbia said and added that Montenegro is an extremely important partner for us, not only because of the economy, but also because of the traditional closeness and connection of our citizens, a large number of Serbs living in Montenegro and vice versa.
He stated that the trade exchange with Montenegro is 16.1% higher than in the same period last year and that it is expected to reach a record €1.6 billion by the end of the year.
Vucic noted that during the talks, they discussed infrastructural issues, that is, the construction of roads, as well as geopolitical and regional problems.
Milatovic pointed out that with his visit, Serbia and Montenegro are turning over a new leaf in their mutual relations.
I welcome any initiative aimed at improving relations with the countries of the region. Serbia and Montenegro are connected by their common history, tradition and intensive economic cooperation. Montenegro is a friend to Serbia and Serbia to Montenegro, he said.
