In his address to the press, Đurić highlighted that during the informal meeting of EU member states' foreign ministers with representatives from the Western Balkans region, he expressed Serbia's goal to be fully prepared in terms of its economy, rule of law, democracy, and all other aspects relevant to full membership by that time.
He added that his message was that the Union could benefit greatly from the membership of Serbia and other Western Balkan partners, not only in terms of human capital but also in terms of tradition, culture, knowledge, security, energy security and much more.
The Minister emphasised that upon joining the EU, Serbia will align its common foreign and security policy (CFSP) with the Union, putting it in a position to influence that policy. According to him, Serbia is already significantly contributing to the common foreign and security policy, participating in European peace missions, and has respected all UN resolutions supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity from the beginning.
Đurić added that Serbia will seek ways to align as closely as possible with the EU's foreign and security policy while protecting its national interests. He also pointed out the violations of the collective rights of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and stressed the need for a more stringent and aggressive implementation of the Brussels Agreement.
