At the central ceremony, where the abilities of special units of the Interior Ministry were demonstrated, Vučić said that every inch of our country must be safe for every citizen of Serbia.
The President asked the members of the police to fulfill their duties so that every citizen of Serbia feels being treated equally.
Vučić warned that security in the world is threatened and that it will be even more difficult in the future.
That is why it is important to secure and preserve all the reserves you have, to prepare for that period, and to secure every inch of Serbia's land, no matter how difficult the situation may be in Europe and the world, he said.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić said that the police have been a pillar of our country's security for years and that without a strong army and police there is no strong state.
He said that the Interior Ministry and the police will continue to be so and called on citizens to be not only friends of the police, but also partners in joint work.
Our police forces are becoming more and more equipped day by day, which has resulted in the Serbian police being ready and able to fight against all types of crime, up to modern challenges in the field of security, Dačić said.
At the ceremony, recognitions for bravery in service and services to police officers were presented.
The Day of the Ministry of the Interior and the Day of the Police are marked in memory of the decisive role of the Serbian gendarmerie in the conflicts with the Turks near the Čukur fountain in 1862 in Belgrade.
