Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić signed the book of condolences todayat the Apostolic Nunciature in Belgrade, following the passing of Pope Francis.
Extending his condolences to the Holy See and the bereaved faithful, Đurić stated that Pope Francis was a great spiritual leader and a true man of Christian solidarity.
The Minister assessed that the Pope’s pontificate was marked by a powerful message of peace, dialogue and social justice, as well as an unwavering commitment to the fight against poverty, marginalisation and climate change.
He stated that Pope Francis left an indelible mark on the contemporary world, not only as a religious leader but also as a moral authority, whose words and deeds transcended the boundaries of religions, cultures and continents.
