Ceremonial reception for Day of Serbian Army

Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, MSc, attended today a ceremonial reception on the occasion of the celebration of 23 April – the Day of the Serbian Army, hosted by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army General Milan Mojsilović.

The ceremony in the Great War Hall of the Old General Staff was also attended by government ministers, representatives of the National Assembly, state institutions, members of the collegiums of the Minister of Defence and the Chief of the General Staff, members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Army and representatives of religious communities.

In his address to the present, Gašić emphasised that the roots of the love and respect that the Serbian people have for their army lie in our history.

He emphasised that every element, every unit of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Army must act in harmony and synchronisation with other parts of that great organism in order to be able to fulfill everything that the Constitution and laws of our country require of us and that the citizens of the Republic of Serbia expect from us, Gašić said.

The Serbian Army celebrates 23 April as their holiday in memory of 1815, when the decision was made to launch the Second Serbian Uprising to liberate Serbia from the Ottoman Empire, which later enabled the creation of the modern Serbian state and army.
