Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met today with EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Priština Dialogue Peter Sørensen to discuss his plans for the renewal of a productive dialogue between Belgrade and Priština at the technical level.
Đurić emphasised that Belgrade consistently supports the process of normalising relations and shares with the EU an undoubted common interest in making progress in that process.
The Minister underlined that in the continuation of the dialogue, more attention needs to be paid to the situation on the ground, because so far, the greatest threat and obstacle to a productive dialogue have been precisely Priština’s unilateral actions and the negative political climate that has been created in this way.
He voiced particular concern about politically motivated legal proceedings against Serbs, which aim to create an atmosphere of legal and existential uncertainty among the Serb population in Kosovo and Metohija, appealing to the EU to use its influence to prevent this type of political persecution.
