Prime Minister Miloš Vučević spoke today with European Union Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Ylva Johansson about cooperation with EU institutions regarding the alignment of the visa regime.
During the meeting, they also discussed irregular migration, the fight against organised crime, the status of Serbia's accession negotiations and the continuation of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
Vučević stated that EU partners have recognised Serbia's efforts in managing migration flows, adding that in the coming period, indicators of migration pressures will be closely monitored and addressed in close cooperation with European partners.
According to him, this is confirmed by the Agreement on Operational Activities signed today, which is conducted by the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX) in Serbia.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the EU for the significant financial assistance for managing migrations and increasing institutional capacities for addressing migration and asylum issues.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Serbia has seriously and responsibly accepted its share of obligations from the beginning, significantly contributing to the overall security of the Union and its citizens.
In this context, Vučević stressed that Serbia is fully committed to dialogue with Pristina, and that it is necessary to ensure the security of the Serbian population and implement all obligations from the agreements reached so far.
Johansson said that Serbia has made significant progress in aligning with the Union's visa policy in the previous period, adding that these measures have led to a visible reduction in migration pressure in the EU.
