Prime Minister Miloš Vučević attended, together with President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić and Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić, the session of the extended collegium of the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces.
At the session, the current security situation in the country and the surrounding area was analysed and key tasks of the Serbian Army and the further improvement of its operational capabilities were discussed.
In his speech after the session, Vučić pointed out that the equipment and weapons of the Serbian Armed Forces are being modernised and increased.
We have many challenges, large forces are gathered in the region for various reasons, from the significant forces of neighbouring countries to the huge number of NATO members in Kosovo and Metohija. We count on good cooperation with KFOR forces and NATO troops and we believe that they will contribute to the stabilisation of the situation in the province, the President said.
He also pointed out that the European Union has defined strategic reserves within the mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, distributed on the territories of Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria, and expressed his belief that they will not be used in any way against the Serbian people and Serbia.
According to his words, increased actions of aircraft, with and without crews, with the intention of reconnaissance towards Serbia, but without crossing our borders, were observed in the surrounding area.
We noticed, as he added, the raising of Albanian "bairaktars" from Đakovica on 5 June and 20 June, to a height of 5,800 meters, with the intention of scouting the positions of the Serbian Army.
Also, the Swedish-German planes do so-called lidar images, not from the territory under the control of the Serbian Army, but from other territories, which are not under its effective control, the President explained.
Vučić said that more and better work must be done and that a clearer message of deterrence should be sent to any potential aggressor against our country.
