Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović met with a delegation from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) today to discuss cooperation on the project to build the Bistrica pumped storage hydropower plant.
Đedović Handanović pointed out that cooperation with JICA in previous years was very successful, which is a good basis for cooperation on the project for the construction of the Bistrica pumped storage hydropower plant.
The Minister stated that in the project’s preparatory phase, the Preliminary Design, the Feasibility Study and the Draft Environmental Impact Assessment Study have been completed in 2024, among other matters, noting that the Spatial Plan of the Special Purpose Area has also been adopted.
Đedović Handanović said that the JICA team, which has started the project assessment, will remain in Serbia for a month, with a visit to the location of the future pumped storage hydropower plant in the vicinity of Nova Varoš planned for next week.
