34,146 residence, work permits issued to foreign citizens in Serbia so far

The Office for IT and eGovernment announced today that the establishment of the Portal for Foreign Citizens in February this year has enabled the submission of applications for a Single Permit for Residence and Work for Foreign Citizens in Serbia.

The announcement states that an application for a single permit can be submitted by a foreign citizen or an employer on behalf of a foreign citizen, exclusively electronically on the Portal for Foreign Citizens.

The portal provides an electronic service enabling the submission of applications for a Single Permit for Temporary Residence and Work for Foreign Citizens in Serbia.

Commenting on this development, Director of the IT and eGovernment Office Mihailo Jovanović said that between the launch of the Portal for Foreign Citizens on 1 February this year and 30 November, a total of 34,146 applications for a Single Permit for Temporary Residence and Work of foreign citizens in Serbia were positively resolved, with 3,635 single permits issued in November alone.

Jovanović explained that the Single Permit for Residence and Work is issued in the form of a biometric document the size of a card.

If an application is submitted independently by a foreign citizen, it is necessary for them to have an account on the Portal for Electronic Identification, and if an application is submitted by an employer, it is necessary for them to have an open account on the eGovernment Portal as a legal entity, and for the legal representative to have a registered account.

All that is required is for the legal representative of the legal entity to register on the eGovernment Portal and authorise a person to submit an application for a single permit on behalf of that legal entity, by assigning the role “Work with Foreigners”.

Also, within the Portal for Foreign Citizens, it is possible to apply for a C visa, which is a visa for a stay of up to 90 days issued for tourism, business and other travel purposes, as well as for single, double or multiple entries into Serbia.

It is also possible to apply for a D visa, which is a visa for a stay ranging from 90 to 180 days, issued on the basis of employment, education, family reunification and the like, the announcement added.
