Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met this evening in The Hague with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Caspar Veldkamp.
On that occasion, Đurić pointed out that relations between Serbia and the Netherlands are good, but that it is necessary to continue working on building relations in areas of common interest, because there is significant potential for improving cooperation, both politically and economically.
The head of Serbian diplomacy emphasised that Serbia's main foreign policy goal is full membership in the EU, and that we are ready to take on part of the European burden, not only the good that EU membership brings.
He also stated that Serbia pays great attention to improving regional cooperation, explaining that it contributes to the reconciliation process and gives additional impetus to the development of the region in a number of segments, and that it encourages overall development on our path towards full membership in the EU.
Đurić also recalled that Serbia actively participates in preventing illegal migration, and that it cooperates closely with the EU in this area through Frontex.
Speaking about Serbia's significant economic progress in the past decade, the Serbian Foreign Minister stated that our country is at the very top of Europe in terms of economic growth, despite all the crises and global challenges.
He pointed out that the Netherlands is an important economic partner and one of the leading foreign investors in Serbia, with whom we want to further strengthen cooperation by expanding from traditional areas of trade and investment to new technological sectors.
Đurić also noted that Belgrade will host the Specialised Exhibition Expo 2027, and invited the Netherlands to participate in this significant international event.
When it comes to the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, the Serbian Foreign Minister informed his interlocutor about the very difficult position of our people in the southern province and a series of unilateral actions by Priština, emphasising that Serbia expects the international community to ensure the rights and security of Serbs and create conditions for the continuation of a productive dialogue between Belgrade and Priština, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
