Boosting cooperation in field of telecommunications with Burundi

Belgrade, 5 March 2025

Minister of Information and Telecommunications Dejan Ristić discussed today with Minister of Trade, Transport, Industry and Tourism of the Republic of Burundi Marie Chantal Nijimbere the possibilities of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of telecommunications.

The meeting looked at the possibility of establishing mechanisms for long-term cooperation in the field of telecommunications and the development of the ICT sector, as well as the exchange of experiences and providing support to Burundi in the process of digitalisation of state administration, public finances, economy and society as a whole.

The perspectives of cooperation in the field of telecommunications infrastructure, the development of digital services and the application of modern technological solutions that could significantly contribute to the modernisation of the public and economic sectors in this country were also discussed.

Ristić highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of telecommunications and digitalisation, emphasising that Serbia has numerous developed technological solutions and expertise that can be of great benefit to Burundi.

Nijimbere expressed interest in improving cooperation through specific projects and investments, as well as in exchanging knowledge and experiences in the field of telecommunications.
