Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begović presented today to new Ambassador of Türkiye to Serbia İlhan Saygılı the project for the construction of BIO4 Campus.
At the meeting, Begović highlighted the key achievements of Serbian researchers and scientists and noted that Serbia seeks to dedicate itself to biotechnological sciences, which is why this project was launched.
According to her, Serbia’s plan is to position biotechnology faculties and research institutes in one place, with the aim of creating a new and high-quality scientific ecosystem.
The Minister stated that Serbia, bearing in mind that technological progress is transforming the world, is actively investing in the development of the IT sector, with a special focus on artificial intelligence, and is considering the sector’s future technologies and strategies through financing and legal adaptation.
Türkiye has high-quality science parks and research institutes, Begović said, noting that Serbia also has bilateral projects with the country, as well as other potential fields of cooperation.
Saygılı emphasised that Serbia is recognised in the world as a country with a positive national strategy in the field of science and technological development and consistent growth in the IT sector.
Serbia and Türkiye have great potential for cooperation and improvement of their startup communities, he assessed and confirmed interest in participating in Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade.
According to him, this exhibition is not only important for Serbia, but also for other countries in the region, which is why Türkiye will be glad to participate.
