Đurić emphasised Serbia’s readiness to intensify the dynamics of meetings with officials of the current US administration in the coming period, confirming that the establishment of new forms of cooperation in areas of common interest will continue to be among the priorities of the new Government led by Prime Minister Đuro Macut.
An excellent example of the continued mutual commitment to the further development of relations, as stated by the head of Serbian diplomacy, is our strategic partnership in the field of energy, crowned by the agreement concluded in Washington last September.
The record values achieved by the exchange of goods and services with the United States, especially ICT services, which last year accounted for almost two-thirds of Serbia’s total export of services to the US are, according to Đurić, an additional motivation to continue to record extraordinary results on the bilateral economic front in the coming period.
The head of Serbian diplomacy reiterated Serbia’s gratitude for the understanding expressed by the US side regarding the situation with oil company Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS), as well as for the recent new postponement of the full implementation of sanctions against the company.
Speaking about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, Đurić noted with concern that the extremely unfavourable position in which the Serbian people in the province have been for years is being further aggravated every day by the malicious actions of the regime in Priština, which is particularly exacerbated by the ban on the free flow of people and goods at administrative crossings, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
