Project of Zemun Technical Passenger Station to be completed by end 2012

Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali signed today with Transport Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Sue Barrett a contract for guarantee for the Zemun Technical Passenger Station (TPS) project - Phase 2, worth €22 million.

After signing the contract at the Serbian Railways building, Mali said that the entire TPS Zemun construction project will be completed by the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022, and that it will enable a better and safer railroad transport in Belgrade.

According to him, the project entails the construction of a functional unit for the maintenance of railway rolling stock for passenger transport and relocation from the current location in the Sava Amphitheatre and the freeing of occupied areas in the central city zone.

She pointed out that the EBRD confirms a strong partnership with the Serbian government and the Serbia Voz train company, and that they will continue to participate in railway projects in Serbia.

On this occasion, a contract was signed between Srbija Voz and EBRD, signed by Barrett and Acting Director General of Srbija Voz Jugoslav Jovic.

The project of innovation of the Zemun Technical Passenger Station is divided into two phases and is financed through two EBRD loans, with a state guarantee.

The goal of the project is to build all necessary facilities, railways, plants, equipment and installations at the TPS Zemun site in the function of care, maintenance and expectation of the work of rolling stock for the transport of passengers, with capacities in accordance with the expected scope of work.
