Exchange of experiences, good practices with Japan in field of child protection

Belgrade/Tokyo, 8 February 2025

Minister without portfolio in charge of gender equality, prevention of violence against women and economic and political empowerment of women Tatjana Macura met in Tokyo with State Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan Areto Takebe.

Experiences and good practices were exchanged in the field of child protection, both in schools and in the family environment, with a special emphasis on the role of modern technologies in improving the safety of the youngest.

The Japanese side showed great interest in the “I Protect You” platform, which the Government of Serbia developed with the aim of a more effective response to violence against children.

Macura presented the advantages of the platform, which enables rapid reporting and monitoring of cases of violence, connects all relevant institutions and provides support to children and parents through educational content and counseling.

The special value of the platform is reflected in its accessibility, speed of response and interdisciplinary approach to child protection.

Digitalisation is an important tool in the prevention and suppression of violence, and it is necessary to further develop cooperation in this area. To this end, the next steps towards establishing institutional cooperation between Serbia and Japan were agreed, in order to adapt and implement the best models of child protection in both countries.
