Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić, at the ministerial meeting of the Friends of the Western Balkans Group in Rome, emphasised the importance of global and regional initiatives and Serbia’s commitment to the European integration process.
Đurić recalled that in the past two and a half years, Serbia has begun implementing serious reforms, which included the adoption of a series of legal reforms that have been praised and recognized by the European Union.
The head of Serbian diplomacy emphasised the importance of the entire European integration process, as the Government has officially set 31 December 2026 as the deadline by which we plan to implement all legal, political and other legislative reforms in order to comply with EU standards.
According to him, Serbia took over the chairmanship of the Central European Initiative (CEI) this year, which it will use to encourage regional connectivity and improve infrastructure.
He recalled that our country has achieved numerous successes, that it strives to be a leader in economic growth in the region, emphasizing that our main challenge remains the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština.
We welcome the appointment of Peter Sørensen, whose role in this will be strongly supported, Đurić said.
I believe that we can strengthen the work on the implementation of the agreements reached so far and other commitments undertaken, but at the same time find something new that would be useful for both sides, the Minister emphasised.
