Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic attended today the opening of the Science and Technology Park in Nis, in which €12.5 million have been invested.
The companies that will move into the Park will start operations in August, and the total space available is 14,000 square metres.
The Park will have 20 start-up and 13 technological companies, and one company is linked to both science and technology part and to start-up.
Together with the investment for the establishment of the Nis Start-Up Centre and a laboratory at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering, the total value of the investment exceeds €20 million.
Vucic underlined that Nis is now developing fast and that the state has invested a lot in that city in the previous years.
He announced that Serbia will improve legal framework for the development of blockchain technology which will be developed at the Science and Technology Park in Nis.
Owing to the development of this technology, it will be possible to trace every transaction at any given moment. That can be of great help to us, he said and noted that the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Nis is a real nursery of talent.
Brnabic underlined that when it comes to the development of blockchain technology, Serbia is among the top five countries in the world and this will enable the security of citizens’ financial data, impeding others to enter their data or alter them.
The funds for this project were secured through the European Investment Bank and the investor is the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development.
