Exhibition “Finding the Way” step forward in strengthening cultural ties with US

Belgrade/Washington, 12 October 2022

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information Maja Gojkovic attended the opening of the exhibition “Finding the Way” in Washington, which marked at the same time the opening of a new building of the Serbian embassy to the United States (US) and 140 years since the exchange of diplomatic representatives of the two countries.

On this occasion, Gojkovic underlined that this event represents the most beautiful example of cultural diplomacy and gives a strong impulse to cultural ties, stating that the second part of the same project will be displayed at the Anacostia Arts Centre, as the first presentation of the European contemporary art in that place.

According to her, there is a wide and unused space for strengthening cultural ties between Serbia and the US, bearing in mind that a great number of our compatriots live in that country, noting that American culture, first and foremost cinematography, music and literature, have and have always had many admirers in Serbia.

I hope that the exhibition “Finding the Way” will attract the attention of the audience of the US capital city and that this is a good step forward in expanding and strengthening our cultural ties, and that we will soon be able to host a similar exhibition from the US in Serbia, the Deputy Prime Minister stated.

The new building of the Serbian embassy in Washington was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Serbian Ambassador to the US Marko Djuric and US Deputy Assistant Secretary and Special Envoy of the State Department to the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar.
