President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic invited the Serbs in northern Kosovo and Metohija to be calm and peaceful and not to respond to provocations and to respect KFOR and EULEX.
After the session of the National Security Council, Vucic stated that appropriate measures were taken to protect our homeland and that accordingly, he gave the most important orders, which the Council accepted.
I am proud of our soldiers and police officers. Before they get any order to raise their combat readiness, we will try to preserve peace a million times, the President of the Republic said.
We call on both the Albanians and the Serbs to preserve peace and have the situation calmed down, he pointed out.
In the field, we have a difficult struggle for the survival of a nation, Vucic said reminding of special units’ incursions today, yesterday and the day before yesterday, to which the international community is turning a blind eye.
He said that a difficult night is ahead of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, adding that he received assurances from KFOR and EULEX that they will not take violent actions against rioters.
He pointed out that the barricades were not set up because of someone’s whim, but because of a protest after the arrest, beating up and harassment of people, as well as non-compliance with the Brussels agreement.
