Prime Minister Ana Brnabic attended the beginning of the celebration of the Chinese New Year in Serbia this evening at Kalemegdan, wishing to strengthen the stee friendship and prosperity of the two nations.
Brnabic reminded that China and the Chinese people always had respect for Serbia and respected us as an equal partner.
She expressed her gratitude to China and the Chinese people for being by Serbia's side even in difficult times, despite everything, their greatness and strength, for supporting its territorial integrity and sovereignty, and for always having exceptional respect for what is Serbian national interest.
The Prime Minister expressed her hope that the year 2023 will bring important agreements on free trade with China, which, as she estimated, will be a huge boost for the domestic economy.
Also, in the last 10 years, exports to China have increased 152 times, and in the last three years alone, they have tripled. Trade exchange, despite huge challenges, exceeded USD 5 billion, and exports reached a historical maximum of one billion, Brnabic emphasised.
Chinese Ambassador Chen Bo assessed that this traditional cultural manifestation is the embodiment of steely friendship between two peoples, who, although geographically far away, are getting closer, which is a priceless asset.
The central celebration of the Chinese New Year was held in Belgrade, on the large promenade on Kalemegdan in the presence of officials of Serbia, the Chinese Embassy and the City of Belgrade with spectacular fireworks.
