Prime Minister Miloš Vučević met with representatives of the Donation Is Heroism patient association today to discuss possibilities for improving the system in the field of organ transplantation.
Vučević emphasised that the state supports the work of associations that deal with overcoming obstacles to organ transplantation and that they will work together to address the challenges, given the significance of continuing activities that have been initiated in order to resolve this important issue.
The Prime Minister underlined that Serbia attaches great importance to this topic, with excellent experts, ready teams and equipment for operations, as well as donor hospitals where staff are trained to identify potential donors and talk to families.
The Prime Minister expressed his hope that public awareness efforts would lead to an increase in the number of donors, noting that the country has the capacity to expand the number of transplant procedures.
Representatives of Donation Is Heroism emphasised that they have good cooperation with the Ministry of Health, with which, in cooperation with other associations, they are working on the preparation of the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on Human Organ Transplantation.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of Health Zlatibor Lončar.
