On that occasion, Brnabic reminded that the Government of Serbia invested a total of RSD 853.8 million in the last six years in order to improve and modernise working and treatment conditions in this healthcare institution.
She particularly expressed her gratitude for the heroic efforts of the employees of this institution invested during the COVID-19 pandemic, stressing that doctors, nurses, technicians and all other employees fought for every life, providing care and support to patients in the most difficult moments for them, their families and our country.
Minister of Health Danica Grujicic reminded that with the arrival of the young surgeon Vojislav Subotic and the transformation of the hospital kitchen into an operating room, the Zemun Hospital started a new era of medicine.
Today, when Clinical Hospital Centre Zemun has 12 operating rooms, it is good to remember the hospital kitchen from the beginning of its story, from which Dr. Subotic started, because jubilees like this should remind us that nothing starts with us, nor does it end with us, said the minister.
We are here to maintain, improve and pass on knowledge, skills, abilities and talents for the benefit of all our patients, said Grujicic.
In recognition of the deeds of Christian love and work on the development of healthcare, education and science, the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church awarded Clinical Hospital Centre Zemun the Order of Saint Sava of the second degree.
At today's ceremony, ceremonial plaques were awarded to, among others, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church Porfirije, Ministers of Health, Education and Science, Technological Development and Innovation Danica Grujicic, Slavica Djukic Dejanovic and Jelena Begovic.
The Zemun Hospital, today's Clinical Hospital Centre Zemun, was founded in 1784 and is the oldest hospital in Serbia.
The first X-ray machine was already acquired in 1901, just one year after the Nobel Prize was awarded for the discovery of X-rays.
The hospital has been operating under the name Clinical Hospital Centre Zemun since 31 December 1983.
