Prime Minister Miloš Vučević and President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić attended today the official marking of the 140th anniversary of the National Bank of Serbia.
Vučević assessed that the National Bank of Serbia today is the guarantor of the monetary and financial stability of our country, adding that the great news is that inflation is expected to continue falling during July, which slowed down to 4.1% the previous month, while the NBS expects that it will to be around 3% by the end of the year.
Serbia continues to strengthen and progress economically. Economic growth of around 4% is expected by the end of this year, and by the end of 2026, Serbia will be ready for EXPO and we will create history together, Vučević said.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the central bank, which is also one of the most important institutions of our country, contributes significantly to a strong Serbia, which is a reality.
Vučić expressed his gratitude to the employees of the National Bank of Serbia for their dedicated work and contribution to the development of our country, and especially to Governor Jorgovanka Tabaković and her team, whose dedication and professionalism form the foundation on which we build the future.
The President added that he is proud of the fact that for 12 years we have had full stability of the national currency, with constant growth of gold and foreign exchange reserves.
Tabaković pointed out that the NBS is a mirror of the state before the people and a reflection of the people before the world.
She emphasised that the National Bank of Serbia was determined to implement measures that were once unpopular, not taking into account whether they offended certain interest groups.
The Governor presented the present dignitaries to the newly opened and innovative Visitor Centre of the National Bank of Serbia.
