The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management announced that due to the outbreak of the plague of small ruminants (PPR) in neighbouring countries, the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the relevant ministry took measures and activities to prevent bringing disease into our country.

The Veterinary Administration undertook increased control of animals imported into the Republic of Serbia, with special attention to sheep and goats, a review of the accompanying documentation for each shipment, which includes animal health certificates issued by the competent veterinary services of the exporting country, as well as mandatory disinfection of all means of transport that transport animals across the border.
Given the invasive characteristics of this disease of sheep and goats, for which the human factor is largely responsible, the importance of the application of comprehensive and strict control and restrictive measures that exceed the competences of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Veterinary Administration is emphasised, and in this sense, for the sake of the effectiveness of supervision, including the control system at all border crossings, which is carried out by the border police and customs services.
