Vučević said that it was a great honour for him to greet them on behalf of the government, but also because this visit was organised in cooperation with theologian Miloš Stojković, adding that the nuns were able to convince themselves with where Serbia is moving today.
The Prime Minister told the nuns that they are mothers and sisters to the Serbian people, bearing in mind all that they have done for us, and reiterated his gratitude for the help and prayers, especially during the difficult decades and years.
The Serbian people do not forget your deeds and it is an unbreakable bond between your sisterhood and our people, the Prime Minister said.
He reminded the citizens of Serbia that the nuns of the monastery of Saint Lydia of Philippi was a refuge for refugees and displaced Serbs, for the wounded and sick, and that the first Serbian school in that part of Greece was founded in 1995, thanks to the support of the sisterhood of that monastery.
Those things are not forgotten, the Prime Minister emphasised and reminded that President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, awarded the Sretenje Order to the sisterhood of the monastery of Saint Lydia of Philippi, which expresses gratitude for everything that has been done for our people.
Vučević invited the nuns to come more often and pray for every person, and above all for our people in Kosovo and Metohija to withstand all challenges.
Long live the brotherhood of the Greek and Serbian people and our countries, so that we never forget who and what we are. Praise God, the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister presented the nuns with a Cyrillic Script monograph, and the ceremony ended with the singing of the song “There Afar”.
