Prime Minister Miloš Vučević today visited works on the construction of the Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad motorway, where the construction of the first bridge on that section begins.
Vučević, who toured the works with the president Shandong Hi-Speed Group, Wang Qifeng, pointed out that this investment signals better days for Banat and brings optimism for the residents of these areas, as well as an additional boost to the development of all municipalities in the region.
I especially believe that we will successfully implement it, because cooperation with Shandong Hi-Speed has been more than successful. It respected deadlines and quality and fulfilled what was agreed upon, said the Prime Minister and added that he is sure that the motorway will be completed within 72 months.
According to him, it is a project that we are looking forward to seeing and that will improve not only the infrastructure network, but also revive this area.
When we add to that that we will finally complete the last phase of the Belgrade bypass, connecting the southern part of Belgrade, and the south-eastern part with Pančevo, and knowing that Zrenjanin will get a motorway to Novi Sad and Belgrade, and that the Fruška Gora Corridor is being constructed, it is clear that these cities will no longer be the same, said the Prime Minister.
He recalled that, in cooperation with the President of the Republic, efforts are under way on the development of the Banat railway and that the complete railway infrastructure in the area will be reconstructed in a short period of time to accommodate trains travelling at 120 kilometres per hour, adding that this will bring Banat residents much closer to both Belgrade and Subotica.
With the connection to Subotica, they will be able to use the motor-speed railway Subotica-Novi Sad-Belgrade, which we will finish by the end of November this year, as well as the motor-speed road that will connect Bačka and Banat, known as “smiley”.
In this way, he added, the most neglected areas in the northern part of Serbia, namely the Sombor and Kikinda districts, will be connected.
The Prime Minister noted that the design of the Belgrade-Vršac motorway and the reconstruction of the Belgrade-Vršac railway are also under way, adding that the construction of a new bridge over the Danube is also in the pipeline.
