Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić met today with the newly appointed special envoy for the Western Balkans of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway, Eirik Nestås Mathisen, as well as his predecessor, Haakon Blankenborg.
Đurić emphasised the importance of Norway’s presence in the Western Balkans over the past years.
He reaffirmed that full membership in the European Union remains Serbia’s strategic commitment, with plans to complete all necessary reforms by 2027.
Discussing the regional situation, he pointed out that Serbia is a pillar of stability and advocates strongly for peace and economic progress throughout the region.
Emphasising that the situation in Kosovo and Metohija is the most important national issue for Serbia, Đurić informed the interlocutors about the unilateral moves of the provisional institutions in Priština, which have led to the violation of Serbs’ rights in the southern province.
