Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić and Slovak Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Juraj Blanár signed today a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the ministries.
At a joint news conference following the meeting with Blanár, Đurić stated that the two countries share a strong friendship forged over many generations.
The minister noted that the friendship between Serbia and Slovakia, as well as the memorandum signed today, provide excellent foundations for the continued development of economic cooperation, as well as cooperation in the fields of culture, digital diplomacy and new technologies.
According to him, the Slovak community in Serbia and the Serbian community in Slovakia represent a strong bridge of cooperation between the two countries and peoples.
He concluded that the two countries share the same values when it comes to international issues, which means that both Serbia and Slovakia are countries that stand for peace and cooperation and share the same principles in their international activities.
The head of Slovak diplomacy explained that respect for international law and territorial integrity is key for Slovakia, as well as that principled action is its key position.
Slovakia’s position when it comes to the so-called Kosovo is unchanged because it represents a violation of the territorial integrity of Serbia and that is why Slovakia, like many other countries, does not recognise it, but on the other hand, it supports an intensive dialogue between Belgrade and Priština, he stated.
