Serbia’s exceptionally good cooperation with IMF, World Bank

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali met with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Deputy Managing Director Bo Li, World Bank Vice President of the Europe and Central Asia Region Antonella Bassani and IMF European Department Director Alfred Kammer in Washington, D.C.

As part of his working visit to Washington, where he is attending the Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank Group, Mali also took part in the Constituency meeting. Furthermore, on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings, Mali spoke with Polish Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański and Head of Switzerland’s Federal Department of Finance Karin Keller-Sutter.

At the meeting with the IMF Deputy Managing Director, challenges currently facing the entire world were discussed, Mali said, noting that the importance of the recent improvement of Serbia’s credit rating to investment grade was highlighted, positioning the country as a bright spot in the global crisis compared to other countries.

The First Deputy Prime Minister conveyed that consensus was reached on the need for Serbia to continue developing its basic infrastructure, including new motorways, expressways, railways and power generation facilities.

Mali pointed out that during the meeting with the World Bank Vice President of the Europe and Central Asia Region, Serbia received messages affirming its economic efforts and enhancing the credibility of all the reforms being implemented.
