Compared to the previous year, Serbia has advanced by eight places and is now 47th among 133 countries included.
This year, Serbia is ahead of several EU member states from the region, such as Croatia (59th), Romania (57th), Greece (56th) and far ahead of other Western Balkan countries, including Montenegro (65th), North Macedonia (77th), Albania (84th) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (90th), reaffirming Serbia’s position as a regional leader in the field of digital transformation.
At the invitation of the organisers, Minister of Information and Telecommunications Dejan Ristić gave an introductory speech via teleconference during the presentation of NRI, in special recognition of Serbia’s successes in the ICT sector.
Ristić emphasised that the development of the ICT sector is one of the main priorities of the Government of Serbia, and explained that by creating a favourable legislative and institutional environment, the state has created the conditions that have enabled the economy to develop unhindered and become a regional leader in the ICT sector.
