Minister of Information and Telecommunications Dejan Ristić said in Istanbul that Serbia’s information and communication technology (ICT) sector is reporting consistent growth, with export revenues from products and services rising by 19% this year.
At the Stratcom Summit ministerial panel on artificial intelligence (AI) in national strategy, Ristić presented Serbia’s results in the sector, noting that the state’s approach to the development of ICT and AI has been highly responsible and systemic.
The ICT sector accounted for 12.2% of the Serbian economy last year, contributing 6.8% to the gross domestic product (GDP) while achieving a record trade surplus of €3.44 billion, the Minister noted.
This year, steady growth has continued, with export revenues increasing by 19%. The responsible application of AI has significantly contributed to these outstanding results, he explained.
During the summit, multiple heads of state delegations expressed their countries’ interest in establishing or intensifying cooperation with Serbia in the ICT field.
